Valentine's Day Toned Paper Journal Demo at Wet Paint

People sometimes ask me about how I work and what materials I use etc. Thanks to our journaling guru Roz Stendahl I can just send them this URL to this Roz Wound Up blog post that has all the details, lots of links to more info and this nifty video:

First Post: Danny Gregory's Book & Brompton Folding Bikes

This is the first post for our travelblog. It's February and we're not going anywhere soon, but we have some fun news.

First, we bought a copy of "The Illustrated Journey" by the amazing Danny Gregory at our favorite St. Paul art store Wet Paint. Roberta and I have sketches from our journals in the book (also Roz Stendahl)

My chapter.

There's a lot of great, inspiring artwork in the book. Roberta and I can't wait to begin our sketching excursions from the Union Depot. We are making plans and preparing for our first trips which will likely be on Jefferson Lines which originates here at the Union Depot.

The other news is we just picked up our new Brompton folding bikes from Calhoun Cycle. It's a lot easier traveling by bus and train with folding bikes. Here's my sketch of the bike and a photo of us with the bikes in the waiting room of the Union Depot.

About Ken & Roberta's Travelblog

Roberta and I are artists. We also love to ride our bikes and travel on trains and buses. We don't own a car. When we travel, we like to sketch and paint along the way. In 2012, we moved to a loft in the Union Depot in the Lowertown area of Saint Paul, Minnesota (see "Union Depot renovation: ‘There are so many parts that are absolutely gorgeous" at Minnpost.com)

Metro Transit and Jefferson Lines buses stop at the Union Depot. Amtrak is here too. In 2014, the Green Line LRT stops right in front of the Union Depot. We are planning many trips originating from here, both near and far and we will be posting our sketches and paintings on this blog.
